Thickness is a safety specification, not a preference
Two inches is the working minimum for direct flame. A one-inch plate heats faster and costs less, and it will crack sooner — often dramatically, which is alarming for a customer standing over a barbecue. We supply thin plates only as chilled serving platters and label them accordingly. Any supplier offering a one-inch block for grilling is selling you a return rate.
